Introduction to Researching Fashion

Welcome to my first blog post! I am completing this blog as part of the ‘Researching Fashion’ unit at Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design.

Although ‘Researching Fashion’ doesn’t exactly conjure up particularly fascinating images, I promise the topic isn’t as dry as it seems – especially when it comes to fashion! For this unit, our research is focused on trends.

Fashion trends aren’t just randomly chosen by designers, or high street shops, or bloggers and influencers. There is a reason and a drive behind every trend, however major or minor it may seem – and this is to do with so much more than pretty fabric!

Throughout the next few weeks, I will be exploring the wider factors that influence trends, emerging trends and a lot of broader fashion research.

In order to start generating initial ideas, in class we began to create mind maps in order to properly visualise our ideas.
